A Miami actual property dealer was sentenced to 3½ years in jail after she pleaded responsible to wire fraud expenses associated to misusing COVID-19 reduction funds.

Daniela Rendon, 31, was charged with seven counts of wire fraud, two counts of cash laundering, and one rely of aggravated identification theft. She pleaded responsible to at least one rely of wire fraud in April.

Prosecutors say that Rendon acquired $381,000 in fraudulent PPP funds that she obtained by mendacity about her payroll along with submitting fraudulent IRS tax kinds.

She allegedly used a payroll processor to pay herself, mates, and members of the family after claiming to be an actual property developer.

Rendon then allegedly used the COVID-19 funds to lease a 2021 Bentley Bentayga, lease a luxurious Biscayne Bay residence, pay for beauty dermatology procedures, and to refinish her designer sneakers.

Throughout a sentencing listening to on Aug. 17, Rendon mentioned that it felt like “all people was doing it,” in response to the Miami Herald.

After being caught, Rendon mentioned she realized her victims weren’t “faceless entities of the U.S. authorities” however “numerous people and companies” who suffered an “unparalleled interval of financial misery.”

Her responsible plea mixed with a 30-page thesis containing an apology, contributed to U.S. District Choose Ok. Michael Moore handing down a sentence of 3½ years. The wire fraud cost got here with a five-year most jail sentence.

Rendon’s lawyer requested for a five-year probation.

She can also be being ordered to pay again $198,990 to the U.S. authorities.
